May is CEDIA-Certification Month
CEDIA to highlight marketplace advantages of
certification and offer strategies for promoting certification as a
point of differentiation
“CEDIA Certification — What’s
Your Plan?”
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Custom Electronic Design & Installation
Association (CEDIA) has established this May as CEDIA Certification
Month, and is planning several special promotions designed to draw
attention to the benefits of its comprehensive education and certification
programs offered through CEDIA University.
“With more than 4,000 active certified professionals, CEDIA University
is the most successful professional education and certification program
in the residential electronic systems industry. We want our Membership
and industry supporters to join us in celebrating all that we have
accomplished together,” said Margaret Sheehan, senior director
of professional development. “There are numerous certification
opportunities throughout the rest of 2007 and we hope this special
CEDIA Certification Month will help to bring new faces into the professional
community.”
CEDIA leadership is specifically drawing attention
to the marketplace value of CEDIA Certification and citing increased
revenue and profits
as a benefit of investing in education and certification of electronic
systems employees. According to Sheehan, consumers have more choices
than ever before and they will continue to give more of their business
to contractors with the best reputations and credentials. She said
CEDIA Certification is one of the single greatest points of differentiation
among electronic systems businesses and that owners who view it and
promote it as an asset will reap the largest rewards.
Detailed “how-to” materials
designed to assist Members with promoting their certification achievements
are another large component
of CEDIA Certification Month. CEDIA’s Marketing & Public
Relations Department is currently compiling some of the best certification
promotion tips and strategies, which will be shared in newsletters
and on the cedia.org web site this May.
“CEDIA Certification — What’s Your Plan?” is
the message of CEDIA’s certification advertising campaign. Marketing
and Public Relations Director Jamie Antcliff said the campaign speaks
to
business owners evaluating their prospects as well as to industry professionals
carving out a career path for themselves.
CEDIA Members, including manufacturers,
who are interested in participating in CEDIA Certification Month
by posting information on their web sites
or working with their local media should contact Joshua Hall at 317-639-5135
or joshua.hall@publicis-usa.com.
The May issue of CEDIANEWS, the organization’s
quarterly Membership newsletter, will feature profiles and special
tributes to the industry
pioneers who developed the education and certification programs that
today make up CEDIA University.
“CEDIA Certification is a powerful tool for growing and advancing
individuals, businesses and the electronic systems industry at large,” said
Sheehan. “We owe a debt of gratitude to the trailblazers who
foresaw the need for credibility benchmarks as our industry grew, and
then invented electronic systems certification to meet that need.”
