CEDIA EXPO 2005 to bring top professionals into Indianapolis to display newest technologies in custom electronics
Indianapolis, Ind. – Heralded as the custom
electronics industry’s top trade show, CEDIA EXPO 2005, hosted
by the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA),
will showcase the industry’s newest trends and technologies September
7-11, 2005, at the Indiana Convention Center and RCA dome in Indianapolis.
CEDIA
EXPO draws industry professionals from more than 100 countries each
year to view home theaters, security systems, whole-house audio,
networked lighting and other innovations. More than 25,000 attendees—residential
electronic systems contractors, along with manufacturers, distributors,
media and other industry professionals—are expected to attend
this year’s show.
The list of highlights for CEDIA EXPO 2005 includes
the keynote address by Ray Kurzweil, a noted inventor, author and technology
trendsetter.
Some of his accomplishments include developing the first print-to-speech
reading machine for the blind, the first CCD flat-bed scanner, the
first text-to-speech synthesizer and the first music synthesizer capable
of recreating orchestral instruments. Aside from his inventions, Kurzweil
has founded and developed nine businesses involving artificial intelligence,
written nationally acclaimed books and won numerous awards.
Kurzweil
received the 1999 National Medal of Technology, the nation’s
highest honor in technology, from President Bill Clinton. He also received
the $500,000 Lemelson-MIT Prize, the nation’s largest award in
invention and innovation. In 2002, he was inducted into the National
Inventors Hall of Fame.
In addition to the high-profile keynote speaker,
industry professionals consider CEDIA EXPO a necessity for growing
their custom electronics
businesses and staying abreast of industry trends. CEDIA University,
the industry’s top education program, will offer more than 200
sessions at CEDIA EXPO in 2005.
“Every year thousands of industry professionals
find CEDIA EXPO offers critical components for success,” said
Ray Lepper, president of CEDIA and owner of Home Media in Richmond,
Va. “EXPO is the
place where new product innovations and technologies are unveiled for
the first time. More than ever, it’s a must-see event for every
company in our industry.”
CEDIA University offers members a formalized
training program for a career path in the custom electronics industry,
where training is accessible
and affordable. CEDIA University also provides a professional certification
program. Certification helps industry professionals advance their careers
while building client relationships and businesses.
“The new attendance records CEDIA EXPO sets every
year is a confirmation of our industry’s growth and CEDIA’s
impact on the overall industry,” said Billilynne Keller, CEDIA’s
executive director. “EXPO
is the single-largest event for our industry to showcase and experience
the newest advancements, plus it’s a destination for industry-leading
education.”
